App Review: Indestructible Tank

IMG_0112-1Indestructible Tank, a remake of the online flash game, is an action game where you control a tank and your objective is to destroy helicopters, jets, and miners by bouncing off of bombs or miners.

When you destroy two vehicles without touching the ground, you start a combo. The higher your combo reaches, the more XP (experience) you receive. XP can be used to increase the frequency by which the enemies appear. You also have a fuel that depletes as you play. Each time you level up, your fuel gauge empties faster; when the fuel runs out, it’s game over. When all of the upgrades are purchased, the game is over and you can keep playing, and basically try and get a higher max altitude.

The controls of Indestructible Tank are not very polished and the game in general feels like it should be either free or a lite version. To control your tank, you can use the accelerometer or touch controls. With the accelerometer, it feels really sensitive and there is no way to adjust it. With the touch controls, your fingers get in the way and it makes it hard to see enemies.

At the Main Menu, there is ‘Play’ and there is ‘Quick Play’. With my demo on the game, I couldn’t really tell that much of a difference in the two game modes. The main difference is that with ‘Play’, you can choose what difficulty you want to play on.

The gameplay of Indestructible Tank is vey fun and entertaining while you’re leveling up, but as soon as you beat it and enter free play, you begin to lose interest and get bored. Since you can’t save your progress and there is no free play, you will probably play it one time through and then forget about it.

I would rate this game as a pass, because of the low replay value and the lack of some key features that would make this a great game.
