Unlock, Jailbrake And Activate iPhone 3G!
Time to start the new year, and what better way to start off the year then by unlocking your new iPhone 3g! The Dev team has done it again! They promised us ‘yellowsn0w’ on the first of the year and they delivered.
As our vision indicates we are the Fred Meyer of the iPhone universe(one stop shopping) so we have put together another great tutorial to show you how to use ‘yellowsn0w’.
NOTE: If your iPhone is already updated to 2.2 and jailbroken, you will need to install a ‘yellowsn0w’ hack from Cydia. If you dont know how to do it, please see below.
The first thing you should know about yellowsn0w is that it will only work on base band 02.28.00 and you need to update your iPhone software to 2.2 through iTunes. The 2.2 software is available here on our site and and it will be more efficient if you save the software onto your desktop.
You will also need wifi access to download yellowsn0w from Cydia later.
1. Open Cydia and Select Manage (make sure you are connected to wifi because you wireless phone providers internet network will not be connected yet)
2. Select Sources
3. Select Edit
4. Select Add
5. Enter this Source and choose Add Source
7. Select iPhone dev team source(apt9.yellosn0w.com) and select install.
8. Return to your home screen by pressing home button on your iPhone.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE A T-MOBILE USER MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF 3G MODE AND ROAMING (settings>general>network)
1. Turn off your iPhone
2. Make sure that your sim is inserted and turn on your iPhone.
3. Don’t do anything after you see the ‘Lock Screen’ for a minute. Please be patient.
4. Slide to unlock
5. Wait (you should shortly see ‘no service’)
6. Turn on the Airplane Mode for about 20 seconds and turn it back off. (You should see ’searching’ word in the network place)

Alright, i just decided to turn off my phone and turn it back on to see if it will work… it didnt sadly, so i have decided to install something to help me with ‘restart’ option as well as followed steps on dev team blog to make it work again… here they are…
1. Install PowerTool and Mobile Terminal from Cydia
2. Make sure that your 3G and Data roaming is off (Settings-general-network)
3. Make sure that your T-Mobile sim card inserted
4. Open PowerTool and hit restart
5. Don’t do anything after you see the ‘Lock Screen’ for a minute. Please be patient.
6. Slide to unlock
7. Open Terminal
8. Type: su and enter the password ‘alpine’
9. Type: yellowsn0w -c
yellowsn0w -r
yellowsn0w -q (wait 20 – 30 sec)
10. Press and hold your home button to kill the terminal
11. Go to setting and turn on the ‘Airplane Mode’ for 10 – 20 seconds
It should work now If it didnt, no worries just repeat these steps
0.9.4 Yellowsn0w update avalible on Cydia… The -q option is now deprecated in 0.9.4 (it’s now always in quick mode, unless you use the -l option for long mode).
If you cannot make it work, run these commands anyway:
yellowsn0w -c
yellowsn0w -r
yellowsn0w -q (wait 20 – 30 sec)
Press and hold your home button to kill the terminal
Go to setting and turn on the ‘Airplane Mode’ for 10 – 20 seconds
